Concerned about animal suffering for human use and consumption, I decided a year and a half ago to become vegan.
I had been vegetarian for much of my life – I thought that was enough to help protect animals.
After doing research and becoming somewhat of an animal rights activist however, I found that the dairy and egg industries actually cause more suffering than killing an animal for its meat does.
Perhaps to a lesser degree, this suffering occurs on organic and free-range farms as well.
Transitioning into this new lifestyle proved to be surprisingly easy with the abundance of recipes online and the availability of vegan products in many stores.
